Let’s get it working.

Step by step

  1. Use Windows 7–11 with internet access. Connect only the printer being reset by USB; Connect does not work over Wi-Fi. Confirm that Connect supports your exact model.
  2. Open WIC Reset Utility. If the assistant appears, choose “Close assistant forever”. Select your printer’s USB connection in the left panel, even if a Wi-Fi entry is also listed.
  3. Click “Read waste counters”. Wait for the window showing the current counters. If it does not appear, resolve the communication error before trying to reset.
  4. If the counters cannot be read, check the USB cable, clear stuck print jobs and close the status monitor. Install the original Epson driver if it is missing, restart the printer and computer, and repeat the counter reading.
  5. After a successful counter reading, close Utility and other programs using the printer. Open WIC Reset Connect using “Run as administrator”. Keep only this printer connected.
  6. When Connect detects the printer, enter your existing Connect key in the “Token” field and click “Reset”.
  7. Wait for the completion message. The source video shows a process of about two minutes without further messages during the reset. Do not disconnect the printer, close the program or click repeatedly while it is working.
  8. When Connect confirms completion, close it. Turn the printer off, wait a few seconds, then turn it on again.

Resetting the counter does not clean or replace the physical ink absorber. Inspect it and arrange maintenance when needed.

Something not working?

The printer is not detected

Check the USB connection, confirm the exact model is supported by Connect and close other programs using the printer. Canon also requires the correct service mode.

Where do I enter my key?

Enter your Connect key in the Token field of WIC Reset Connect. WIC Reset Utility is used here to read Epson counters, not to use a Connect key.

The counter was reset. What about the absorber?

The reset changes the counter, not the physical condition of the absorber. Inspect and service the absorber when needed. Follow Connect’s instructions for restarting the printer.

A different error or a key problem

Stop and send support the printer model, the exact message and a screenshot. Do not post the full key publicly.

Connect reports that the server is busy

If this specific message appears, the source video recommends waiting two minutes and trying again. If the key or reset still fails, contact support with the exact message.

Enter service mode Canon · 1700 / 5B00

Step by step

  1. Use Windows 7–11 with internet access and a USB cable. Confirm that Connect supports your exact Canon model. Connect does not work over Wi-Fi.
  2. Download WIC Reset Connect. Right-click the downloaded program and choose “Run as administrator”. Allow the Windows permission prompt for the program you downloaded from the official link.
  3. Enter service mode using the specific procedure for your model in the Canon service-mode section. Only the printer being reset should be connected to the computer.
  4. The green LED must stay on continuously in service mode. If it blinks, resolve other errors first: the source video lists a stuck print job, an open cover or a missing cartridge as possible causes.
  5. When the printer is detected, enter your existing Connect key in the “Token” field and click “Reset”.
  6. Wait for the completion message. The source video describes about two minutes without additional messages while the reset runs. Do not interrupt the process or click repeatedly.
  7. After the completion message, close Connect. Switch the printer off, wait a few seconds, and switch it on again.

Canon has a blinking green or orange LED

Do not continue with a reset. In service mode the green LED should stay on. Resolve other errors, such as a missing or unrecognized cartridge, before retrying.

Canon will not enter service mode

Check the exact model and the matching sequence. The source guide recommends powering off and unplugging for 10–15 seconds before retrying. Do not try a different number of button presses at random. If the model is not clearly covered, contact support.
